Basic digital-logic element used to build electronic circuits. Five basic gate types named in Boolean notation are: OR gate, AND gate, NOT gate, NOR (NOT OR) gate, and NAND (NOT AND) gate. Each of these gates are used to direct or switch current flow. Other than the NOT gate, each output is a function of the input(s), and each gate can have more than one binary input.
