Legal principle. If a written main contract is challenged, the evidence of a second contract may not be ignored under the parol evidence rule , even if expressed but oral. This rule gives weight if the terms of the oral contract (1). are in-line with those of the main contract and, as a general practice, (2). are not expected to be written in to the main contract.
