Introduced in 1976 by Martin Hellman and Whitfield Diffie of the USA. This allows for the secure transmission of data in PGP (pretty good privacy). It is non-secret encryption which is different to the cryptography where both parties use the same machine to send and receive data. These two machines will have the same electronic key.
