1. Each member is contained in or contains the next items in a set forming a chain, hierarchy, or sequence. 2. Different sized hollow articles, like boxes, a the smaller one placed or nested in the next larger size. Or, same-sized articles, like buckets, are placed in one another with less than one-third of the internal article projects over the external article, like a nested stack. Nested articles have cheaper freight rates than non-nested ones.
