Anopheles mosquito spreads this infectious, tropical, severe parasitic disease. It annually affects 300 to 500 million people. Two million deaths, most of them children in subSahara Africa result. Found in 103 tropical countries. Anemia, chills, enlarged spleen, flu-like fever, headache, and muscle ache are symptoms manifested after an incubation period of one week to 10 months. May recur in cycles after subsiding.
