What is HARMONIZED INDEX OF CONSUMER PRICES (HICP)

An INFLATION index widely used throughout the European Union that measures changes in consumer prices. Unlike various other CONSUMER PRICE INDEX measures, HICP excludes owneroccupied rental costs. See also PRODUCER PRICE INDEX , RETAIL PRICE INDEX.
