A DIRECT PLACEMENT of COMMON STOCK that is offered by a company to investors, customers, and/or suppliers, without the use of an UNDERWRITER . Given the limited ability for companies to directly place their own shares and then encourage financial intermediaries to produce EQUITY research and quote SECONDARY MARKETS, DPOs are relatively uncommon.
